Last week we picked up a problem with Youtubes Embed code which is a feature of the video module. This week we are glad to announce a patch was released to fix this problem. If you run the Video module on your site and did experience any problems, all should be back to normal.
Once again this does highlight the problems that can occur when relying on a 3rd party for video streaming. That said, until bandwidth prices drop radically in South Africa its still a small price to pay for most clients.
To give an idea iCode did a cost comparison on streaming video from oversea's compared to South Africa. One case comparison on 100 Gigs of data streamed showed that locally, and on very preferable rates, it would cost over R9500 where as to do exactally the same from and overseas server would cost a meger R100.
All eyes are on the launch of Seacom's new cable which will hopefully see an end to this to some degree.
